After reading the Twitter, Flickr, Facebook Make Blogs Look So 2004 article on WIRED, I checked out the comments. Most users complained about the article. Curiously enough, or not, most of the complainers where bloggers. Certainly, it means that blogs aren’t dead. Perhaps the article is correct in the sense that blogs are obsolete, although they are still in use. The author does
take a pretty extremist position by saying that we should pull the plug on blogs. New forms of blogging are appearing, hybrids that offer more than blogging, and in a simpler way. Indeed blogs aren’t the buzz anymore, and why do they still exist? Because…it is there, for the sake of writing. The usage that is given to the blogs is what’s obsolete. Before, you could write just about anything that popped into your mind and appear in the first 10 in a Google search. Now, you’re lucky if you appear in the first 100. Blogging has been taken over by professionals and corporations, your average user remains average. So, users retreat to simpler ways for social networking; Flickr, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter: “evolutions” of the blog, or different forms of expression. A blog is just a different possibility of expression in the multiple forms of expressions there are. The future lies in the place that can offer you all of these forms of expression in one nice, simple, tidy, modifiable package. Keeping it simple is what makes us tick.

Circo Volador
Después de casi 15 años de inactividad, Carcass, pioneros del goregrind/grindcore y death metal melódico, reúne sus partes para una última gira de despedida: EXHUMED TO CONSUME. Por supuesto, México no podía ser excluido de esta memorable gira.
A pocos momentos de iniciar el evento, el Circo Volador ya esta a reventar de los fanáticos ansiosos por ver en acción al bajista Jeff Walter, a los guitarristas Hill Steer y Michael Amott, y al baterista Adrian Erlandsson (remplazando al miembro original Ken Owen). Enseguida que se apagan las luces empieza una introducción y Carcass arranca con “Inpropagation” seguido por “Buried Dreams”. Mientras tanto, afuera todavía había gente haciendo fila para comprar boletos para el evento agotado. Si empezaron con fuerza le sumaron velocidad con las dos siguientes canciones que fueron “Corporal Jigsore Quandary” y “Carnal Forge”, canciones que definen bien sus estilos musicales. A continuación siguieron “Incarnated Solvent Abuse” y “No Love Lost”. Para este entonces los desafortunados que compraron sus boletos de último segundo apenas iban entrando y eran mandados al segundo piso del Circo Volador de tan llena que estaba la planta baja. Después de esta alternación entre los álbumes de “Necrotism – Descanting The Insalubrious” y “Heartwork siguió una canción desconocida para muchos: “Edge Of Darkness” del disco “Wake Up And Smell The…Carcass”. A continuación, sin pausa alguna, encadenaron directo con dos rolas del “Heartwork”, “This Mortal Coil” y “Embodiement”. Luego, un recuerdo de antaño con “Reek of Putrefaction” del “Symphonies Of Sickness” seguido de algo más actual: “Keep On Rotting In The Free World” del “Swansong”, la única rola que tocaron de ese disco. Es entonces que Carcass se da la primera retirada y sale un Juan Brujo (vocalista de Brujería) al que apenas y se le descifraba sus palabrerías, pero aún así se distinguió un “¡Viva México Cabrones!”. Regresa entonces el grupo para llevarnos directito al clásico grindcore del primitivo “Reek of Putrefaction” con “Genital Grinder” y “Pyosisified (Rotten To The Gore). Antes de retirarse por segunda ves, se arma el coro con “Death Certifícate”, quizá una de las rolas más prendidas del concierto. Al término de su corta ausencia, resumen con “Exhume To Consume” al final de la cual Jeff Walter presenta a los miembros del grupo y prosigue con la introducción para la canción final con el notable bajo del principio de “Ruptured In Purulence”. Para el gran final reservaron uno de sus más grandes éxitos: “Heartwork”.
Aún con la pobre calidad de sonido que ofrece el Circo Volador pareciera que los amplificadores fueron subidos hasta el nivel 11. Las animaciones con imágenes de sexo, muerte y putrefacción hacían perfecta armonía con la música. Carcass arrasó con un setlist conformado por la mayor parte de su discografía, sobretodo del álbum “Heartwork”. Aún así hubo oportunidad de recordar los buenos viejos tiempos cuando Carcass estaba en la cima de su desempeño como uno de los grupos más representantes del mundo del metal.
